Call for Nominations
Founders’ Award (deadline March 11, 2022)
The award is established in honor of the founders of the Division and recognizes scientists whose work exemplifies the founders’ vision of excellence in the field of chemical toxicology. Nominees should be members of the Division of Chemical Toxicology whose scientific activities have emphasized innovative research in the general field of chemical toxicology.
The Award consists of a plaque and the recipient will organize a Symposium at the American Chemical Society National Meeting. The symposium will culminate with the recipient presenting the Richard Loeppky Lecture.
Nominations are sought by the Awards Committee for the presentation at the following fall meeting of the American Chemical Society Meeting.
A nomination document should include:
- Nomination letter containing an evaluation of the nominee’s accomplishments and innovative research in Chemical Toxicology.
- The candidate’s CV with a list of publications and patents.
Nominations should be submitted as a single PDF file (Name the PDF file with the candidate’s name, for example, LawrenceMarnett_FoundersNomination.pdf).
Send nominations to Amanda Bryant-Friedrich <amanda.bryant-friedrich@wayne.edu>
ACS Fellows (deadline March 11, 2022)
The American Chemical Society (ACS) Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors in December 2008 to recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society. TOXI is entitled to nominate four individuals.
A nomination document should include:
- Nomination letter containing an evaluation of the nominee’s accomplishments, scientific and service to the American Chemical Society.
- The candidate’s CV with a list of publications and patents.

Mentoring Program
To enhance diversity within the ACS Chemical Toxicology division and support the unique challenges facing individuals from underrepresented minority (URM) groups in identifying mentors, we have established a mentoring platform through the National Research Mentoring Network (MyNRMN, ACS TOXI mentoring group (nrmnet.net)).Our goal is to encourage individuals from URM groups to join ACS and attend the Fall 2022 meeting virtually, where they will have the opportunity to join mentoring groups within the division. We will support both membership fees for the ACS and registration fees for the meeting for individuals chosen to participate in this program. We welcome all individuals who identify as a member of a URM group including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, the LGBTQIA+ community, Black, Hispanic, and Native American individuals. Those chosen to participate in this program will join the MyNRMN ACS TOXI mentoring group and will have monthly mentoring meetings. We are currently accepting applications for both mentor and mentee participants at the following links:
Meetings of Interest
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2022 International Conference on Cytochrome P450 (ICCP450), our member Dr. Fred Guengerich would like to invite you to attend the conference July 17 – 22, 2022 in Washington, D.C.
Dear TOXI Division Members:
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2022 International Conference on Cytochrome P450 (ICCP450), I invite you to join me in attending the conference July 17 – 22, 2022 in Washington, D.C.
Established in 1976, ICCP450 has developed into a biennial international series with meetings rotating between Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific. The Washington, D.C. meeting will be the first held in the U.S. since 2013.
ICCP450 in Washington, D.C. will bring together researchers and students from diverse disciplines who study P450s from various perspectives and for different reasons. The conference program will consist of a rich schedule of presentations, given by a stellar line-up of speakers, at the forefront of P450 research in four overarching themes:
- P450 biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology
- P450s in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics/dynamics, and as therapeutic targets.
- Discovery of novel P450s with distinct functions from across the biosphere.
- Synthetic biology of P450s: engineering novel systems for pharmaceutical and other applications.
I have attended the ICCP450 for 42 years now and serve as the head of the International Advisory Committee. It is always the place to be for P450 action. I believe you would find immense value in attending this year’s program. You can register online here. Early bird pricing is available through May 20.
I hope to see you in July in D.C.
Regards,
Fred Guengerich
