Associate Director, National Toxicology Program (NTP) and
Scientific Director, Division of the National Toxicology Program (DNTP)

NIEHS is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated thought leader to serve as Associate Director, National Toxicology Program (NTP), and Scientific Director, Division of the NTP. The NTP (headquartered at NIEHS) is an interagency program of the NIH, U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), whose mission is to evaluate agents of public health concern by developing and applying tools of modern toxicology, molecular biology, and computational science. The NTP performs a wide array of in vivo and in vitro toxicological research through contracts, interagency collaborations, and in-house capabilities. In addition, the program is responsible for developing and publishing the Congressionally-mandated Report on Carcinogens in accordance with the Public Health Service Act, providing support for the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM) in compliance with the ICCVAM Authorization Act of 2000, and performing systematic reviews on a wide variety of public health topics through its Office of Health Assessment and Translation. The NTP is an active partner and driving force in the Tox21 interagency collaboration to transform toxicology into a predictive science. We are looking for applicants with a commitment to scientific excellence and the energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary to lead a large, dynamic, and diverse program in solving 21st century public health challenges. He/she will have the opportunity to develop and implement a strategic framework to advance the science of toxicology in support of the NTP’s public health mission, accommodating cutting-edge technological advances and rapid translation of scientific findings. If desired, the incumbent would be eligible for consideration as an NIEHS Senior Investigator appointment, with his/her own independent research group.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent) and will be an internationally recognized expert in environmental health sciences with a broad scientific knowledge of experimental toxicology, carcinogenesis, toxicological pathology, mechanistic toxicology, computational toxicology, epidemiology, regulatory science, public health translation, and/or other relevant discipline. Further, candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to assemble, motivate, and lead a talented multidisciplinary staff charged with addressing a wide range of public health challenges. Finally, the candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (e.g., employees, academia, industry/trade groups, animal welfare organizations, non-government organizations (NGOs), the public, members of the media, and Congress).

The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments with full Federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement, and savings plan (401K equivalent).

Postdoctoral Associate

Dr. Lisa Peterson at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota is seeking a postdoctoral associate to work on a project to explore the interactions between tobacco smoke chemicals in established rodent tumor assays. Qualifications:
